Her interests lie in infectious diseases as reflected by the previous roles she has held over the years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_0\">Before joining FIND, Agnes was employed as a Clinical Research Associate with Westat. She was responsible for scheduling site monitoring visits as well as conducting and reporting findings of site monitoring visits for the Botswana Combination Prevention Project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_0\">Agnes completed her Master&#8217;s degree at the University of London (LSHTM) in Public Health in Developing Countries. She has a scientific research background having completed her Bachelor of Science in Medicine (Hons) degree in Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the University of Cape Town.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clinical Research Associate<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":932,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"nf_dc_page":"","_et_pb_use_builder":"off","_et_pb_old_content":"<p class=\"font_0\"><strong>Dr. Salgame<\/strong> is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Center for Emerging and Re-Emerging Pathogens, Rutgers University. She is the Director of the MD\/PhD Program and the Graduate Medical Research Program. Her research focuses on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and host immune mechanisms that protect against infection and progression to disease. Her research team also studies the biology and host response of clinical strains of M. tuberculosis with differing transmissibility. Her group conducts these investigations in humans and animal models. She and her collaborators also perform biomarker studies at several international sites. Dr. Salgame is on the Editorial Board of Infection and Immunity and is also an Associate Editor for PLOS Pathogens. In addition to her research pursuits, Dr. Salgame has managed and led a range of science training programs. She is Program Director on a T32 training grant in Infection, Immunity and Inflammation.
