Margaretha De Vos
FIND
Senior Scientist

Margaretha De Vos is a molecular biologist and joined FIND in 2019 as Scientific Officer in the TB programme.

She has over 10 years of research experience in the field of Mycobacteriology. She graduated with a PhD in Molecular Biology at Stellenbosch University in 2013 and continued her research there as a post-doctoral fellow. Her research focus at Stellenbosch included the development and validation of new diagnostics for the identification of tuberculosis and antibiotic resistance. She also used next generation technologies to study the microevolution of M. tuberculosis during treatment and acquisition of drug resistance with the aim to identify molecular markers and other risk factors for the prediction of treatment failure in regimens that include the new anti-tuberculosis drugs bedaquiline and delamanid.

Margaretha also holds a BSc degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and BSc (Hons) and MSc degrees in Medical Biochemistry from Stellenbosch University.
